Tiger escapes trip to vet

Staff reporter | 27 July, 2010 08:210 Comments

A tiger has managed to get out of a bakkie between Delmas and Groblersdal on the R25 according to its handler, Rose Fernandes.

Eye Witness News reported that the cat was on its way to Springs to see a vet.

The 17 month old tiger is tame, and goes by the name of Panjo, but the public has been warned to not approach him because he could attack unknown people. Small children may be at risk.

If he does spring, a firm no, preferably with a stick in your hand should stop him as this is how he has been trained by his handlers.

Fernandes says that they do not know how the tiger opened the canopy, but that once they got to Delmas they found it open and sans tiger.

Authorities have not confirmed the incident.
