A 34-year-old pastor was arrested in Hammersdale after he was allegedly found in possession of State prescription medicines worth R1 million, KwaZulu Natal police said.

This was after police got information on Friday that he allegedly dispensed State medicines to members of the community, said Colonel Jay Naicker.

Police went to the pastor's church and found the medicines marked for State use.

Naicker said investigations were ongoing to determine where the medicines came from.

The pastor will appear in the Hammersdale Magistrates Court on Monday to face charges related to the Medicines Control Act.
