Interpol's wanted list features 10 South Africans sought for crimes including rape and the theft of more than R240-million.

One local suspect, Jason Holland, 43, a former director of a Johannesburg mining company, is being sought for fraud and allegedly "misappropriating" more than R240-million.

The former Sentula Mining financial director allegedly siphoned company money into an offshore account in Germany in 2008.

Interpol believes that Holland, who has British and South African citizenship, is currently in Australia, the UK or the Netherlands.

Another fugitive is former police officer Mvuleni John Tshoba, 46, who fled the country after being convicted of the rape of an eight-year-old child.

The convict, whose name was placed on Interpol's list in November last year, has been on the run for six years.

According to Interpol, Tshoba fled after being denied an appeal by the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court in 2005. Tshoba, who was convicted in April 1990, is believed to be living in either Swaziland, Lesotho, Zimbabwe or Mozambique.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the US has enlisted the services of Interpol in a hunt for South African Lesiba Simon Matsoake, a suspected serial rapist.

The Daily Press newspaper in Virginia Beach reported that the FBI had issued a fugitive warrant for Matsoake.

Matsoake, who is thought to be in South Africa, is suspected of rape and two cases of sexual assault and an abduction in Virginia Beach between 2004 and 2006. The crimes, according to the Daily Press, are all linked by DNA evidence.

FBI investigators told the Daily Press that Matsoake's wife had informed police that her husband had fled to South Africa.

In Botswana, police have roped in Interpol to assist in their search for Mauritius Chauke, suspected in several theft cases.

Chauke, who is believed to be hiding in his home province of North West, had been living in Francistown in Botswana when he was arrested.

Others on the list include Gregory Sean Hamilton, 46, who is wanted for fraud, and Petrus Rens, 56, who is sought for the illegal possession of explosives.

Another is Jacque Robertse, 48, who is wanted for sex crimes and Elmi Abdi Omar, 32, who is wanted for fraud and human trafficking. Omar, who was born in South Africa, also has a Somalian passport.

According to Interpol, 31765 suspects on its wanted list have been arrested since 2000.

Among them is the "Advocate Barbie" case's Dirk Prinsloo, who was sentenced in the Baranowitsji district court in Belarus to 13 years' jail on charges of theft, assault and attempted bank robbery in February last year. Prinsloojumped bail in South Africa before a trial in which he and his girlfriend, Cezanne Visser, were accused of sexually abusing young girls.

He was captured by police in Belarus after an attempted bank robbery and charged with the theft of a R14700 diamond necklace from one of his several girlfriends and the abuse and "torture" of another girlfriend.
