Suspended police spy boss Richard Mdluli has been arrested on charges of fraud and corruption.

Hawks spokesman McIntosh Polela last night confirmed that Mdluli had handed himself over to police and had appeared in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court earlier yesterday.

He was released on a warning.

Polela said "several other charges" were being investigated, but would not elaborate.

In a separate matter in March, Mdluli was arrested in connection with the alleged 1999 murder of a former lover's husband, Oupa Ramogibe.

He was released by the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on R20000 bail and faces a raft of charges, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, intimidation, kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice.
