Rightwing leader Eugene Terre'Blanche was found dead with a panga in his chest, "a lot of injuries" and blood on his face, a policeman testifies.

His body was lying on a bed in his farmhouse, and the walls and a steel pipe were stained with blood, Sergeant Jack Ramonyane told the High Court sitting in Ventersdorp.

At that point, another person in the room said: "It is true. Mr Terre'Blanche is no more. They killed him."

The bedroom was dark and an employee from the Emergency Medical Services (EMS), who was with Ramonyane, used a torch to see.

On arrival at the scene, Ramonyane found the farmhouse locked from the outside. It was opened by the gloved EMS worker.

Ramonyane said he did not enter immediately.

"Van Heerden [from EMS] requested us to wait outside because it was dark inside the house. There were dogs inside and he indicated that the dogs could bite us if we entered."

Van Heerden entered with a torch, and requested the officer to enter when it was safe.

The two accused, farm-worker Chris Mahlangu, 28, and a minor, were in the police van outside the farmhouse at that point.

Ramonyane said he brought them there after they confessed to him that they killed Terre'Blanche.

The officer was patrolling the area on April 3 last year, when he came across the two near the local railway line.

"Chris Mahlangu explained to me that they had a fight with their employer, fighting for two months' wages and that they were not paid," Ramonyane told the court.

"I then asked him how serious was his employer injured [sic]... .Chris Mahlangu responded by saying: 'We killed him'."

Ramonyane said he felt scared at that point.

"He [Mahlangu] did not look like someone who did such a thing because he was free, calm and not scared."

The pair told him they had had enough.

Mahlangu said he had taken Terre'Blanche's cellphone and intended selling it to recoup his outstanding wages.

Four other witnesses have already testified that the two confessed to the crime.

Both have pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, housebreaking and attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Mahlangu claimed he acted in self defence, while the minor denied involvement in the murder.

Ramonyane's testimony continues.
