A Facebook group is organising global protests against the Protection of State Information Bill, encouraging South Africans overseas to make their disapproval known to the world.

The group, No To Secrecy, calls for expats to "join the international protest against the South African Secrecy Bill". The group posted pictures of an anti-Info Bill protest that happened in London in December, with over 100 people taking part.

But they would like more South Africans based overseas to join in, with more protests planned in the coming months.

So far, the following protests are planned:

  • New York, 21 January
  • Mumbai, 28 January
  • Perth, 11 February
  • London, 18 February

Regarding the second London protest, the group states: "This time let's get ALL South Africans in London outside the South African embassy to make sure that as the bill moves before the NCOP [National Commission of Provinces], the cries of South African citizens are at the foremost of their minds."
