The family of Khulekani "Mgqumeni" Mseleku rushed to Johannesburg from Nquthu, in northern KwaZulu-Natal, yesterday - only to find that they had been duped again into believing that the dead KwaZulu-Natal award-winning maskandi musician was alive.

Just a day after a man appeared in court for telling thousands of fans that he was the resurrected musician, a Johannesburg traditional healer convinced family members that Mgqumeni was still alive.

Hi s cousin, Sakhiseni Mseleku, said a traditional healer phoned a family member claiming that the singer was alive.

"The traditional healer said that he knew where the real Mgqumeni was. He said that he was somewhere in Johannesburg central. He told us to come to him with a spotless white goat so that he can perform a ritual before we could see him.

"My brothers wasted no time and went to the traditional healer but we advised them to bring along the police because of our past experience," he said.

When the Mselekus arrived at the meeting place with the goat in tow they could not find the traditional healer or Mgqumeni.

Mseleku said the family was devastated by the latest claim.

"This is very painful to us because we know that we buried him.

"I was there when he died and we took the body to a mortuary. I even saw his body at the mortuary several times and when it was brought home for burial, so all these claims are really hurting us," he said.

Mgqumeni died on December 19 2009 in Johannesburg on his way to see a traditional healer.
