Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu will visit the family of murdered miner Pinky Mosiane at her Pshing Township home in Ventersdorp on Monday, her department said.

Mosiane was found in a pool of blood underground at Anglo American's Khomanani mine in Rustenburg earlier this month. A blood-stained stone and a lunch box were found next to her body and it was not known if she had been raped.

Shabangu had expressed grave concern and disappointment at the incident in her state of the province address on Wednesday, her department said in a statement on Sunday.

She had called on mining companies to institute stringent measures to ensure the safety of women in mining and the wilful implementation of gender equality principles.
