South African Brandon Huntley is still fighting to be allowed to stay in Canada. His refugee status was revoked in 2010.

In 2009, Huntley successfully applied for asylum to the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board. He argued that it was not safe for a white man to live in South Africa and said that he had been robbed and stabbed seven times.

But Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenney applied to have his case reviewed in the federal court.

The court ordered a new hearing. But Huntley lodged an appeal. Late last year the Federal Court of Appeal dismissed Huntley's application.

But last week, his lawyer, Russell Kaplan, said the fight was not over.

"We have applied to the Supreme Court of Canada for permission to argue an appeal on behalf of Mr Huntley," said Kaplan.
