Farmer shoots, kills tenant's bull
A farmer in Komgha (Qumga) in the Eastern Cape shot a bull owned by dwellers on his farm saying it was a threat to his livestock, according to a report on Friday.
Marius Potgieter said the bull was not supposed to have crossed the fence that separated his yard from its owner Vuyani Mgema's yard, the Dispatch Online reported.
The Bull flattened the fence and crossed it with ease.
“Yes I did shoot and kill that bull. Obviously the matter would go to court and I will defend my rights,” Potgieter was quoted as saying.
“The bull kept on dragging on my fence, fighting and hurting my cattle."
Mgema found the bull on Sunday with a bullet hole to its shoulder.
There had been a feud brewing between Potgieter and the Mgema family, after the family received the bull from the department of rural development and agrarian reform for breeding, the Dispatch reported.
