The Mangwanani Spa in Durban was shut down yesterday after a fire destroyed a large part of the complex.

The fire ripped through the thatched Jacuzzi and the restaurant areas of the spa at the Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom on the North Coast in the early hours of the morning.

The Jacuzzi area was burnt to the ground in less than an hour.

Nobody was injured.

Melville Vogel, general manager of Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom, said they had no idea what might have caused the fire.

Vogel said the spa would be closed for two weeks while the damage was fixed.
