Bail for killer taxi driver Humphreys denied

The bail bid of a Western Cape taxi driver convicted of murder after his vehicle collided with a train was dismissed on Friday.

Humphreys gets 20-year sentence
Jacob Humphreys brought the application to the Western Cape High Court to be released on bail, pending the outcome of his appeal against his conviction and sentence.
He was found guilty in December last year on ten counts of murder and four of attempted murder.
Ten children died in the accident. The attempted murder count related to children who were seriously injured in the crash.
Humphreys was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
He overtook a string of cars waiting at the Buttskop level-crossing in Cape Town, despite the booms being down, and attempted to cross the railway line in the face of an oncoming train.
