Girl, 5, raped three times: report

Sapa | 18 June, 2012 08:06

A man has appeared in court for allegedly raping a five-year-old Limpopo girl, according to a report on Monday.

The Star newspaper said this was the third time that the Grade R pupil had been raped in Mmamatsha village, in the Ga-Molepo area, since 2010.

The first rape case against her, in December 2010, was reportedly provisionally withdrawn, pending DNA results and a social worker's report, police spokesman Constable Moses Molepo told The Star.

In May this year, the girl was allegedly raped again. In this case, a 28-year-old man was arrested on a charge of rape.

Last Wednesday, the girl was raped for a third time. A man was arrested and appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Friday.

She was reportedly raped while walking to school in the last two instances.

The 2010 incident happened after she was left in the care of her 13-year-old aunt while her parents attended a funeral.
