Several boxes of unopened medicines were found dumped in Mthatha, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.

"The medicines have not been used and we found many boxes," said Lt-Col Mzukisi Fatyela.

The boxes were found near a forest in the Mvezo locality on Friday.

"We are not sure which hospital it was destined for, or what the value of it is," he said.

Police have asked the provincial Health Department to assist them.
