A bus driver was killed and 25 people were injured when the vehicle left the road and crashed into shacks in Khayelitsha, Western Cape police say.
Lt-Col Andre Traut said the bus was pelted with stones, which resulted in the accident on Friday night. No arrest had been made.
The Golden Arrow bus veered off Mew Way bridge and landed on four shacks, which were not occupied at the time.
"The bus driver died on the scene due to the extent of his injuries. Twenty five passengers sustained injuries, and were treated," said Traut.
Before the bus left the road it collided with another car, but the driver of the car was not injured.
