A man accused of dumping more than 5000 textbooks in Majeje, Limpopo, was released on a warning on Friday by the Lulekani Magistrate's Court, police said.

Vincent Mbhungele, 46, an employee of a publishing company, was released so that police could conduct further investigations, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

He faced charges of malicious damage to property.

Mbhungele was arrested on Thursday after textbooks for Grade zero to Grade nine for various subjects were found in Majeje.

He would appear in court again on September 10, Mulaudzi said.
