Metrorail says lightning hit a substation at Pinedene Station which has affected all trains on the Pretoria, Johannesburg line.

Metrorail says it has sent its technical team to the area.

'Other corridors in the West and East are also experiencing challenges ranging from flooded rail tracks to faulty points.'

Metrorail says it regrets the inconvenience caused and has appealed to commuters to seek alternative transport where possible.
