The chairman of the National Union of Mineworkers' Anglo Platinum Khomanani's branch was critically injured after an attack at his home in Rustenburg, the National Union of Mineworkers said on Sunday.
NUM spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said the house of the chairman, who may not be named until a next of kin has been notified, was petrol-bombed on Friday evening.
"He escaped with serious injuries and has been admitted in the intensive care unit of a local hospital," said Seshoka.
According to the NUM this comes after a string of threats and intimidation of its members around the platinum mine.
Police officials could not immediately confirm the incident.
