Uitenhage police have seized dagga with an estimated street value of R700,000, police said on Sunday.
Lt Col Priscilla Naidu said two men found in possession of the drug were arrested on Friday evening.
“It is alleged that at about 21:40, while the officers were holding observation on the Addo main road, a bakkie with tinted windows passed them. The officers became suspicious of the vehicle and forced the driver to stop. Upon searching the vehicle, Bowie (a police dog) sniffed out the dagga compactly packed in bags,” said Naidu.
Police believe the dagga came from Umtata and was bound for Port Elizabeth.
The two men were expected to appear in the Addo Magistrate’s Court on Monday where they would face charges of dealing in dagga.
