Two bogus doctors have been arrested for fraud, theft and possession of fake money in Katlehong, on the East Rand, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, police found them at a house in Thwala Section on Wednesday, Superintendent Vusi Mabanga said.

The men, aged 51 and 58, were found in possession of an official stamp from Natalspruit Hospital.

"The stamp is apparently used by bogus doctors to issue illegal sick notes to their patients. Child birth clinic cards, were also found in their bogus consulting room," said Mabanga.

They claimed to have received the medical documents from a friend working at the hospital. Police also found counterfeit R100 notes with a total face value of R2800, he said.

The men would appear in the Palmridge Magistrate's Court on Thursday on charges of fraud, theft and possession of counterfeit money.
