Pistorius stops training out of respect for Reeva: spokeswoman

Sapa | 27 February, 2013 08:39
Sprinter Oscar Pistorius.

Murder suspect and paralympian Oscar Pistorius has no plans to start training again in the near future

Beeld reported that Lunice Johnston, who has been appointed as the family's official spokeswoman, said on Tuesday that Pistorius still found himself "in a very senstitive time" after he was charged with the murder of his law graduate girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

"Oscar is still in a state of deep mourning and will absolutely not be able to train at any time again soon," Johnston said.

"He will also not train as a measure of respect for Reeva's family, friends and parents, who are also mourning."

She said Pistorius planned to use the time between his release on bail last Friday and his next court appearance in June to strengthen his ties with his relatives.
