A 75-year-old woman was tied up for two days at her home in Morningside, Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Friday.

"She was discovered by the gardener who reported for work on Friday," Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said.

The woman was found on her bed, tied up and covered with a blanket.

Maphakela said two men who broke into her home tied her up on Wednesday around 2pm.

"She was reading in her study room when the men broke in, tied her up, and stole some of her belongings."

The woman was traumatised and could not remember what the intruders had taken, apart from her cellphone. She was not hurt.

Police were investigating a case of house robbery. No arrests had been made yet.
