The 17-year-old boy convicted for a triple murder in Griekwastad was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in the Northern Cape High Court on Wednesday.

Northern Cape Judge President Frans Kgomo sentenced the boy to 20 years imprisonment for each of the three murder convictions, 12 years on a rape conviction and four years for lying to the police. All sentences would run concurrently.

This was for the murders of Griekwastad farmer Deon Steenkamp, 44, his wife Christel, 43, and their daughter Marthella, 14.

They were shot dead on their farm Naauwhoek on April 6, 2012.

The boy was also found guilty on charges of raping the girl and lying to the police.
