Two pupils were arrested during a raid at a school in the Mqhekezweni locality near Mthatha for possession of weapons, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

The youths, aged 18 and 19, were arrested at the Jongintaba Senior Secondary School on Wednesday when they were found with a firearm with live ammunition as well as a dagger, said Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela.

Police conducted the raid after they were alerted to a fight between the teenagers.

They would appear in the Mthatha Magistrate's Court on Friday.
