A nine-year-old boy on Wednesday came face to face with the teacher he said consoled him with R2 and an ice-cream after allegedly raping him.

The boy had to enter the courtroom at the Protea Magistrate's Court in Soweto to identify the 44-year-old man after the defence denied that he was the teacher the boy spoke of.

The boy testified from another room through CCTV.

He entered apprehensively before he walked right up to the accused and pointed at him as the man who allegedly raped him.

The teacher is also charged with raping an 11-year-old boy at school, as well as with attempted murder because he knew he was HIV-positive when he raped the 11-year-old.

The nine-year-old boy yesterday said a teacher from his school offered to give him a lift home after playing soccer.

“He told me he was going to drop me off at home, but he was lying. He took me to Maponya [Mall in Soweto] instead,” the boy said.

The teacher then allegedly asked the boy if he wanted to relieve himself, and joined him in a bathroom stall.

“He told me to take off my pants. He was sitting on the toilet seat and he told me to sit on top of him ... he then inserted his penis into my buttocks.”

The boy, who aspires to be a police officer when he grows up, said the experience was a painful one.

He said the teacher dropped him off near his house afterwards after making him promise not to tell his mother.

He was unable to tell the court when in 2013 the alleged rape occurred.

When the boy's mother took him to Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital for tonsillitis and because he was wetting his bed some time later, the doctor discovered what had happened to him.

The case was postponed to next month.
