SA Airways cancelled its flights between Johannesburg and Port Louis in Mauritius on Tuesday, due to a tropical cyclone, the airline said.

"The adverse weather conditions associated with tropical cyclone Bansi in Mauritius are below SAA operational limits and for that reason we have taken a decision to cancel all flights for today between Johannesburg and Port Louis," spokesman Tlali Tlali said.

"The safety of our passengers and crew was a key consideration in taking this decision."

Flights SA190 from Johannesburg to Port Louis and SA191 from Port Louis to Johannesburg were cancelled.

Tlali said SAA would resume flights as soon as the weather improved.
