Thieves broke into a mortuary in Rathoke village, Marble Hall, and made off with several items including doors, Limpopo police said.

A transformer, a geyser, the cold room motor, tools, a gas stove and other items were taken, Constable Lethunya Mmuroa said.

"The date on which the crime was committed is not clear but [it was] between December 24 last year and Thursday, 29 January," he said.

The mortuary has since closed.

"According to the owner, she left the building on 24 December [and] everything was in good condition. When she came back on Thursday she found the lock of the main gate was broken," said Mmuroa.

"She entered [and] noticed that the door of the mortuary was broken and equipment ... was stolen."

A case of business burglary was opened.

No arrests had been made yet.
