A group of female high school pupils physically attacked a fellow pupil - slapping, kicking and shoving her to the ground at Vukuzakhe High School in Umlazi, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The bullies can be seen asking their victim about a rumour that she apparently spread. The victim denies this repeatedly while her attackers continue the abuse. Giggles can be heard as onlookers watch amused.

The video was found on Facebook and has since garnered thousands of shares on the social media platform. Facebook users identified the girls as wearing a uniform from Vukuzakhe. The pupils have apparently been expelled from the school according to the sibling of a Facebook user who attends classes there.

According to The Star, teachers at the school went on strike last year, after calling for the removal of the principal. The embattled school is said to be a drug dealer's den with dealers accessing four illegal entrances.

The report also detailed class bunking absenteeism and high incidents of ill discipline among the pupils. The department of education has conducted an investigation on the school to establish and fix the problems it has the report concludes.
