Two Ethiopians burnt in #XenophobicSA, KwaZulu-Natal police advise foreigners to not go home

Following an attack in which two Ethiopians were petrol bombed in Umlazi, KwaZulu Natal police have advised foreign nationals not to return to their homes.

“Two foreign nationals were sleeping in a container which is also a tuck shop when someone threw a petrol bomb in their container,” The police's Thulani Zwane said according to EWN.

According to the report camps have been set up in Chatsworth where families can stay until the matter has been resolved.

Zwane told EWN that the province's police commissioner has ordered that more officers be deployed to hotspots this morning.

“Since the incident, we've already arrested 17 suspects for various charges including public violence, assault, robbery and murder,” Zwane said.

The police will continue to maintain a strong prsence in Umlazi, Isipingo, Chatsworth and Malukazi this weekend.
