Eleven men from East London are walking 400 kilometres over seven days with a three-metre long‚ hollow cross to raise awareness of the Karoo Mighty Men Conference (KMMC) in Middleburg next week. The men are members of the Christian organisation‚ which is founded by author and evangelist Angus Buchan.KMMC East London co-ordinator Warren Heyns said the men would walk at least 50km each day.“The men are walking to thank the Lord for what He has done in their respective lives and they will each be taking turns carrying the cross‚” Heyns said. “This is also a bid to alert people out there about the conference and we hope that people will show interest to the people walking with the cross and take time to speak to them and fill the hollow cross with their prayers.”The seven-day walk kicked off on Friday at 6am from the Hemingways Mall and the men are expected to stop in King William’s Town for the night.Heyns said that although they would be taking turns carrying the cross‚ there are two backing vehicles - one in front and the other behind the men - as they walk. The vehicles are there to give support and security to the men as they go along their journey.Follow their journey on the Mighty Men Facebook page. – RDM News Wire, Daily Dispatch..
