Dingaan ‘Rose of Soweto’ Thobela arrested by Hawks

The Hawks Commercial Crime unit has arrested former boxing champion Dingaan Thobela over his funeral parlour business. The SA Police Service announced via Twitter that Thobela‚ known around the world for his ring name‚ the ‘Rose of Soweto’‚ had been arrested for alleged contravention of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act.According to the SAPS statement‚ he stands accused of failing to register his funeral company as a financial service advisor entity as required by law.Thobela appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Johannesburg yesterday‚ where he was granted bail of R3‚000. The case was postponed to next month.Known as one of South Africa’s best boxers‚ Thobela has been running his Rose Funeral Parlour for many years‚ at least since the late 1990s.Thobela‚ who officially retired from the ring in 2008‚ has been in the news recently with reports of his 17-year-old marriage to a former beauty queen breaking up. And last year‚ he was at his father’s hospital bed when the elder Thobela was shot and wounded by unknown criminals in Zuurbekom...
