Alleged rogue ex-EMS staffer to appear in court

KwaZulu-Natal’s health MEC will be in the gallery of the Durban Regional Court on Monday for the appearance of ex-Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staffer “who is suspected of inciting violence and arson”. Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo’s office said in a statement that this “former staff member was arrested on Saturday at one of the EMS bases”‚ and listed the allegations of “numerous adverse incidents” which included:- “The stoning of a planned patient transport with 12 patients on board‚ including a pregnant woman‚ on the R102‚ Ezidedele Area‚ Empangeni in Uthungulu District last Thursday;- “The burning of two ambulances in Uthungulu District three weeks ago;- The partial burning of an ambulance at the FOSA EMS base in Newlands West‚ also on Thursday; and- “Alleged intimidation of EMS staff who reported for duty during an illegal ‘go slow’ by some EMS members”.Dhlomo is expected to address the media after the court appearance...
