Drug syndicate nabbed in Ballito, heroin worth R500‚000 seized

Police have arrested 23 suspects and seized heroin worth R500‚000 at a house in Ballito – the second big bust this month in KwaZulu-Natal. Two houses were raided during the joint operation by SAPS‚ Crime Intelligence‚ K9 Unit and HawksAt the first house‚ “police found six female occupants who were locked inside the house as well as a number of empty straws and five sealing machines. The occupants were taken in for questioning”‚ SAPS said in a statement.“Intensive investigations led them to a house in Ballito where they found 23 occupants inside. Police recovered 20‚000 straws filled with heroin as well as six sealers in the second house.”The 23 suspects were arrested and charged for dealing in drugs. They had a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court today. Earlier this month‚ Durban police arrested 10 suspects for dealing in heroin from an upmarket apartment in the Point area. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs was R150‚000.KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner‚ Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni‚ said: “We have had numerous breakthroughs such as this in various parts of the province recently and our police officers are indeed breaking the back of drug syndicates”.She urged the public to help police close down drug dens and report drug lords...
