Grahamstown child porn accused gets 10 years

Grahamstown businessman Anthony Evans‚ who has admitted to being a key figure in a notorious online international child pornography ring‚ pleaded guilty to creating‚ possessing and distributing child pornography. He was sentenced to 10-years imprisonment.The 53-year-old semi-retired guesthouse owner‚ who on Friday admitted his addiction to child pornography‚ was the web administrator and key technical guru in the large online child pornography ring consisting of about 30 people from across the world. Their 600 or more young victims lived mainly in the United States but some were from Canada and Europe.The softly spoken Evans confirmed his guilty plea and was sentenced in terms of a plea and sentencing agreement reached with the office of the director of public prosecutions. He cut a pale and lonely figure in the dock‚ dressed informally in black pants‚ a blue striped shirt and a faded blue fleece zip-up jacket.Grahamstown High Court Judge Judith Roberson said she was satisfied that the 10-year sentence outlined in the plea and sentencing agreement was a just one. – Daily Dispatch..
