Soapie actress's shoplifting headache continues

Maggie Benedict's shoplifting trial is proving to be quite a headache for the actress as judgment was postponed again. Benedict‚ who is best known for her role as Akhona on Generations‚ was accused of stealing a bottle of headache tablets from the Checkers supermarket in Cresta Mall in Johannesburg about a year and a half ago.Magistrate Pravina Raghunandan on Monday told the Randburg Magistrate's Court that she must postpone her judgment until later this week.Raghunandan said she needs time to look at the trial transcript and she only received it on Monday.In a letter to her fans posted on Facebook last year‚ Benedict said that she bought the bottle of pills worth R17.49 weeks earlier and it had been in her bag unopened before she was searched and accused of stealing it.This was the second time the judgment was postponed‚ with the previous postponement in May also attributed to problems with obtaining the transcript...
