The woman pictured drinking alcohol while sitting in the driver's seat of an Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department car has admitted to posing in the state vehicle.

Writing on Facebook, Tshidi Ford owned up to posing with bottles of liquor in a police vehicle recently.

Ford, who is based in Tembisa, wrote that she sneaked into a cop car and took pictures.

"My humble apologies to all. I have caused a stir by sneaking into EMPD car while it was being washed an took pics. I'm really sorry, didn't mean any harm."

Ford's images went viral on social media over the weekend. Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, said an investigation would be done to find out which police officer had the car while on duty.

"The matter is with the integrity and standard unit, they will investigate and find out whose name the car was issued in. That person will have to explain the incident and disciplinary action will follow," said Kgasago.
