11 wounded during shootout at Soshanguve Plaza

Nine elderly bystanders and two security guards were shot and wounded during a cash heist at Soshanguve Mall on Wednesday morning‚ the SA Police Service (SAPS) said. Police believe that up to 10 armed suspects confronted Fidelity Security guards who were transporting money to a pension point.“The suspects fired shots randomly and managed to take a box with an undisclosed amount of cash‚” an SAPS statement said.“In the process‚ elderly citizens - two men and seven women - were shot and wounded on their lower bodies. Two guards were also wounded.“The suspects abandoned a BMW vehicle while they were fleeing from the scene.”The wounded have all been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.The robbery took place at about 6am.“Anyone with information may contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or forward information with an SMS to Prime Media Crime Line at 32211 at all hours.”..
