Mzansipad is a tablet created by a team of young South African individuals, the tablet has been designed mainly for educational purposes. The main objective of Mzansipad is to bridge the information and resource gap in education.

Every Mzansipad comes with the Pfunzo (education) app which is designed for grade 8 – 12 learners, the app is designed with the CAPS curriculum. The app consists of a homework function, an educational chatroom, newsfeeds and past papers.

Mzansipad hosted an event on Mandela Day (18 July 2015) in Sandton where the organisation donated 80 tablets in the One Child, One tablet initiative to Realogile Secondary School in Alexandra as its flagship school which has also been officially adopted by the honourable Gauteng premier Mr David Makhura who was the keynote speaker at the event.

The Gauteng premier has expressed that he is dedicated to bringing about change to Realogile secondary School and he plans to improve the schools infrastructure and improve the learner’s access to information through the roll out of the ICT system at the school along with Mzansipad as a flagship. Mr Makhura has stated that “We should be inspired by the spirit of our icon Mr Nelson Mandela, the founding father of democracy, to do things that will help others and make our mark.”

The principal of Realogile Secondary School Mr Matlaupe Motlagabo was very grateful for the major support, he said "I am very proud that young people can use their personal challenges as an inspiration to bring about change in the education system in this country. Government can not do everything for everyone, they too need assistance from the private sector and young organisations like Mzansipad. Thank you to Premier Mr David Makhura, I am humbled by your support"

We asked a few of the learners from Realogile Secondary School how they felt about being rewarded Mzansipads in order to assist them with their studies and they were all really grateful, excited and more motivated than ever to work hard towards achieving great results at school.

The Mzansipad – One child, One tablet initiative was indorsed by Dr Richard Maponya, Mr David Makhura and various major organisations that believe in the importance of good quality education for young South Africans and who are passionate about continuing the legacy of uTata Nelson Mandela who believed that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
