Popular maskandi great Mtshengiseni “Indidane” Gcwensa has died.

Details surrounding his death are still sketchy. However, Daily Sun reported that he died on Monday morning following a long battle with an undisclosed illness.

The Inqina Lemfene hit maker was born in Msinga, northern KZN. He won numerous awards during his career as a singer.

At the peak of his career, a number of maskandi fans regarded him as the best maskandi artist according to the Public News Hub.

He was a founding member and leader of the award-winning maskandi group, Amageza Amahle, which was formed in 2004.

The group’s song Viva ngeNdidane won the song of the year award during the 2013 SATMA awards.

Funeral arrangements and more details will be released in due course.
