DJ's girlfriend may have survived with immediate medical attention

If the slain girlfriend of former Jozi FM DJ Donald “DJ Donald Duck” Sebolai had gotten medical attention shortly after being stabbed‚ she may have survived. This was the opinion of pathologist Dr Mosou Paul Morule‚ who testified at the Johannesburg High Court sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court southeast of Johannesburg‚ on Wednesday.Sebolai‚ 38‚ is on trial for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend Flavia Rachel “Dolly” Tshabalala‚ 32‚ to death at his Soweto flat on June 29 last year. The DJ also faces charges of theft and defeating the ends of justice for allegedly stealing Tshabalala's car and removing evidence from the crime scene. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.Morule‚ who performed a post-mortem examination on Tshabalala‚ said the deep stab wound in her lower abdomen‚ three centimetres long and one centimetre wide‚ may have been inflicted with the steak knife that was found in her car.On Tuesday‚ police officer Constable Joyce Mofokeng testified that she found Tshabalala's car abandoned in Central Western Jabavu in Soweto with bloodied clothes and a steak knife inside it.Morule testified that when he poked his finger into the wound to see how deep it was‚ his finger did not reach its end. The wound extended from Tshabalala's pubic bone to the root of her right thigh‚ he said. The wound‚ which led to severe blood loss‚ was what killed Tshabalala‚ Morule said. The injury severed the main blood vessels of her right thigh‚ he said.He noted‚ however‚ that “the wound was fatal because there was not timeous medical intervention”.Prosecutor Elize le Roux said the state plans to lead evidence that Sebolai's flat‚ where Tshabalala died‚ is less than one kilometre from a hospital. The doctor also gave evidence consistent with what Le Roux said was the defence's suggestion that Tshabalala was stabbed in Sebolai's lounge‚ and not the bedroom where her body was found. He said the bloodstain present in the bedroom is not consistent with the spurting of blood that Tshabalala would have experienced due to the wound but rather looked like it was the result of a gentle oozing.Morule testified that no other injuries were found on Tshabalala's body.Earlier on Wednesday‚ a friend of the couple‚ Palesa Matladi Seseli‚ testified that although Tshabalala and Sebolai were generally a loving couple‚ she had seen Tshabalala slap Sebolai. She also testified that she had accompanied Tshabalala to Jabulani Police Station twice to lay complaints of assault against Sebolai. The trial continues. - TMG Courts and Law..
