Guest seriously wounded in robbery outside top diplomats' hotel

The shooting that left a guest critically injured outside the luxurious Sheraton hotel in Pretoria during an armed robbery on Wednesday night has left management concerned. “We are obviously very concerned by this incident outside the hotel and are working with authorities in their investigation. The hotel is doing what we can to assist the guest and hope for a speedy recovery‚” general manager Pascal Fouquet said on Thursday.Police spokesman Major Mack Mngomezulu said about four suspects accosted the three Congolese guests as they unloaded their luggage from their car outside the hotel and pointed firearms at them.“They pulled up in front of the victims' car just after they had parked and robbed them of their luggage‚ cell phones and lap tops. One of the victim was shot in the upper body. No one has been arrested as yet‚ we are still hunting for the suspects‚” he said.Mngomezulu said they were investigating a case of armed robbery and were still hunting down the suspects who apparently followed the guests from the OR Tambo international airport.ER24's Russel Meiring said the injured guest was still in a critical but stable condition at Muelmed hospital in Pretoria.Sheraton hotel is a hotel of choice for diplomats visiting South Africa‚ with its most recent guest being Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe - who stayed at the hotel during his first state visit in 21 years in April.-RDM News Wire..
