Mandela grandson in court, accused of raping 15-year-old

A grandson of Nelson Mandela appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of rape and attempted rape. The man‚ who cannot be identified until he has pleaded to the crimes‚ appeared in court briefly before the matter was stood down while the defence waited for a letter from the commander of the Parkview Police Station in Johannesburg.The defence wanted to bring an application to have the man‚ who is in his twenties‚ held at the police station until he can apply for bail rather than at the Johannesburg prison.The police station is located close to the party area of Greenside‚ where the alleged rape reportedly took place on Friday August 7.It was reported that the man allegedly raped a teenage girl in the bathroom of a restaurant.The man will apply for bail later in the week.The alleged victim‚ a 15-year-old girl‚ was present in court earlier on Monday with a few supporters.-RDM News Wire, TMG Courts and Law..
