Eight people were arrested in a police raid on suspected drug dens in the Durban suburb of Chatsworth at the weekend‚ police said on Monday.
Five men and a woman were arrested at a house where police found 1‚537 straws of Heroin‚ 17 grams of Heroin powder‚ sealers‚ a digital scale and cash suspected to be the proceeds of drug deals‚ police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said.
In a raid on another house in the area‚ police arrested a 37-year-old man and seized approximately 74 grams of heroin‚ while at another house they found 491 straws of heroin and arrested a 34-year-old man.
“These drugs‚ which will be sent for forensic analysis‚ have an estimated street value of R80‚ 000‚” Col Naicker said.
The suspects were all scheduled to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
