An occult-like game being played by older Nelson Mandela Bay schoolchildren has seen police‚ teachers and the provincial Department of Education teaming up to put an end to the craze which freaked out pupils at a Uitenhage school recently. The issue has been deemed serious enough for the department to dispatch officials to investigate‚ together with school authorities‚ the “Charlie Charlie Challenge”.Played by teenagers at several Uitenhage schools‚ the game purports to summon up spirits – in particular a so-called “Mexican demon” – with the use of a grid drawn on paper‚ the words “yes” and “no” written into the grid’s boxes‚ and a pencil balanced on top of another in the shape of a cross.“Charlie Charlie” is then asked questions by the players.Last week‚ a number of John Walton Senior Secondary School pupils went into a frenzy after a school wall collapsed while they were playing Charlie Charlie. - RDM News Wire, The Herald..
