Gospel star Sfiso Ncwane says he does not regret buying a car worth R1,9 million as a gift to Reverend Francis Anosike of Rock Of Victory Ministries church and apologised to everyone who was offended by his gesture.

In a radio interview on Vuma FM on Tuesday, the 36-year-old also addressed comments attributed to his mother Fikile Ncwane, who said she was heart broken by the fact that she sometimes went to bed on an empty stomach “while my son that I have carried for nine months buys a car for another man.”

Ncwane said his mothers comments were misinterpreted by the media "to suit their sales." He said he has always taken care of his family and built a house for his mother.

“I send my mother money from time to time, I take care of her financial needs. It is also not true that my wife Ayanda scolds at my mother whenever she asks us for money,” he said.

Ncwane was speaking out for the first time since the story broke at the weekend.

“I’d like to apologise to all my fans and everybody who loves the Gospel music,” said Ncwane.

“I am very sorry to anyone who took offence with my gesture.” Asked if he will take the V8 AMG Mercedes-Benz back should the Reverend decide to return it, Ncwane said: “No, I would not accept it back.”

The Gospel star said he bought the car for the pastor to thank him for saving his life. The pastor prayed for him while he was fighting for his life after suffering a heart attack, he said.

“I thought I was going to die,” he told Daily Sun on Monday. He said he knew many people who had not survived heart attacks but because of the pastors’ prayers, he is still alive.

Ncwane said the matter, which has saddened his children and wife, is now being handled by the family elders.
