Identifying a body found dumped in a wheelie bin in a Milnerton canal will be a tough task because parts of the victim’s face had been skinned, the South African Paramedic Services said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Warren Cupido told News24 parts of the victim's facial skin has been removed. “It is usually done to make identification difficult,” he said.

The woman’s body was discovered in a bin in the shallow water in Taurus Road in Phoenix, Milnerton, at around 09:00 on Monday morning, police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed.

“The cause of her death and the motive for her murder are yet to be established,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.

Cupido said the body appeared to have been dumped between Friday and Saturday.
