A Johannesburg resident known for her photography on the Facebook page ‘We grew up in and around Yeoville’ has opened a criminal case after charging that security guards restrained her with cable ties.

“Just had the worst experience of my life‚ assaulted and held down by two security guards and hog tied with cable ties‚” Alex Furnsinn told the Facebook community.

“I was so afraid but angry when they tied me. I made a dash for the street screaming at the top of my lungs for help‚” she wrote‚ adding the police had arrived. She posted a photo of the cable ties.

Hillbrow police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo confirmed that a case of assault had been opened at the Yeoville police station.

“We are investigating the matter‚” he said.

Details around the incident were sketchy. Zondo said police were investigating the circumstances.

Furnsinn‚ who describes herself as self-employed‚ is a prolific contributor on the Facebook page‚ mostly posting photos of the suburb’s iconic buildings for its 4‚900-plus followers.
