Nigerian superstar robbed of R791,000 in Sandton

A Nigerian superstar was robbed of a large amount of cash and two rolex watches while walking through Sandton on Friday.

Davido, who has received global acclaim for his funky brand of Nigerian music infused with pop and afro soul influences - encountered crime first hand in Johannesburg.

Davido was passing through the country en route to Atlanta, USA where he is based and regularly performs. The BET Best International Act winner tweeted of his experience. He said: "Thank God for my life.... If not for him.. E for be different story ... My daughters face was flashing through my eyes the whole time...."Never traveling without my gang again!!!!

He was robbed of $55 000 (R791,000) in cash and two rolex watches which average R50,000 a piece.
