Sfiso Ncwane’s pastor, Francis Anosike of Rock of Victory Ministries, has spoken out about a gift worth nearly R2 million he received from the award-winning gospel singer.

Ncwane presented Anosike with a R1,9 million Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG V8 2015 model in October as a gift to the pastor for saving his life through prayer.

But Anosike, who on Monday drove the luxury car as he appeared before the commission investigating the commercialisation of religion and abuse of people’s belief systems, told Sowetan on Monday that he deserved the gift.

“The gift of the car that he gave me was his way of showing appreciation and being grateful to me for praying for him after he was in a coma and released from hospital,” said the Nigerian-born Anosike.

Anosike told the paper that he was not one of the unscrupulous pastors.

“I pastored and journeyed with Sfiso for over nine years. I have known him even before he became popular, pastoring to him,” said Anosike.
