Violent TUT students disrupt exams

Exams were violently disrupted by rioting students at the Tshwane University of Technology's main campus in Pretoria West on Thursday afternoon. There was a strong police presence at the campus' main gate‚ with cars being stopped from entering the campus.A campus security guard said students from the Soshanguve campus had arrived earlier and violently disrupted exams and tried to burn down one of the buildings and pelted staff and other students with stones."The situation is tense inside. Soshanguve students were running amok. We are advising people to move their cars away from the main gate because there could be damage when the rioting students run out‚" the guard said.Staff members were earlier seen hurrying out of the campus as police moved in.On Wednesday the university was forced to suspend exams at the Soshanguve campus following clashes between police and rioting students who set two building on fire and vandalised campus property.Protesting students from the Soshanguve campus are demanding a commitment from management that results of those owing fees will not be withheld...
